INSTRUCTIONS TO SUBMIT A COMPLETE TNT APPLICATION

We are now accepting Applications for

2026 MINT TNT AND FORUM Lisbon, Portugal

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO REACHING OUR APPLICATION LIMIT AND CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THERE WILL BE OPEN SEATS AVAILABLE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD. IF YOU CHOOSE TO APPLY, YOU MAY NOT GET A SEAT IN LISBON, BUT YOU WILL BE PLACED ON A PRIORITY LIST FOR THE NEXT TNT OPPORTUNITY.

October 21, 22, 23  -  MINT Annual Forum (TNT participants who complete the TNT workshop can register for the Forum; space is limited, see information below)

PURPOSE OF TRAINING OF NEW TRAINERS (TNT) WORKSHOP            

To support proficient MI practitioners / trainers in enhancing their MI training skills.

APPLICATION  OVERVIEW                                                                                                  

This is a multi-step process. To apply for a TNT, you will need to:

1. Complete and submit the Written TNT Application  form
2. Provide two references of people who can describe your MI skills
3. Pay $110 US Dollars (non-refundable)
4. Schedule and complete the Standardized Patient Interview (SPI)* 

APPLICANT  EXPECTATIONS                                                                                              

1. You are proficient in MI;
2. You can show your MI skills in 20-minute Standardized Patient Interview (SPI);
3. You have participated in standard training in MI;
4. You can describe your experience learning MI and how you are developing your MI skills;
5. You have received feedback, coaching, or supervision as part of ongoing MI learning;
6. You have provided MI Training (recommended but not required).

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS

PART 1: WRITTEN TNT APPLICATION FORM

• Download the Written TNT Application form and fill in as much information as you can provide.
• Save the document on your computer using your name (Surname, First Name) as the file name.  
• Click the application link at the end of these instructions.
• Write your name, email, phone number, and country. List the contact information of two references familiar with your MI skills.
• Confirm you understand the application process.
• Upload your completed Written TNT Application form.
• Pay the fee. Our secure payment portal accepts credit and debit cards. You will receive a payment confirmation email.

Once you complete Part 1, your application will go into our queue and you will be redirected to....

PART 2: STANDARDIZED PATIENT INTERVIEW (SPI)

The SPI is a 20-minute audio-recorded Zoom interaction. You will get to show your MI skills. You will interview a member of our team trained to act in the Standardized Patient (SP) role. The SP will also record this interview. You can choose from the target behavior options provided by the lab.

To schedule you will contact one of the MINT-approved providers. Scheduling information will be sent when your Written TNT Application is submitted. Details will vary according to the provider. 

Within 24 hours of completing the SPI you will receive a link to your audio-recorded SPI. You will be able to download the file in m4a format. You will receive the 2026 Standardized Patient Interview Reflection Form with your recording.  Complete and email the form back to the provided email or link. The provider will submit your recording and form to MINT. This step completes your application and is ready for the MINT review team.

It is essential that this is received within 2 weeks to ensure your place in the queue.

Once we review your entire application, we will notify you of the outcome. You will also receive MITI-coding feedback on your SPI to strengthen your MI practice.

The review process can take up to 8 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome, you have seven (7) days to appeal the decision:

I am Accepted! Now What? 

You will receive an invitation to join us in Lisbon! You need to know the costs so you can start planning early. The following  are TNT-eligible events and include pricing: 

• TNT Welcome Reception, Sunday evening October 18 - FREE (optional);
• 3-Day Workshop (attendees must attend all three days) - $1500 USD includes all training materials, daily lunch and coffee breaks;
• Invitation to attend the Wednesday Evening Dinner & Networking Social - $89 USD per ticket, guests are invited;
• Invitation to attend the MINT Annual Forum (Thursday & Friday) at a special 2-day rate $419 USD; 
• A booking link to reserve a room at our venue, Marriott Lisbon, at the special rate of € 190 per night/single occupancy;
• APA Continuing Education (CE) credits $75 USD (full attendance and documentation required);
• 2026 Membership to MINT (2027 membership fee will be due by December 15, more information will be sent after the TNT).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :                              

We will admit the first 80 applicants accepted (2 English Language groups of 40) who register and pay for the TNT. We may keep a short waitlist and offer spots if seats become available.

• Cancellation Policy

The TNT application fee is non-refundable.

If your TNT application is approved but you are unable to attend the 2026 TNT in Lisbon, you may defer your participation for up to 24 months from your acceptance date. A $100 USD deferral fee applies.

If you have already registered and paid for the TNT 3 day program and need to cancel for any reason, please refer to our Events Cancellation Policy for details.

Please note: Acceptance into the TNT does not guarantee a seat. Enrollment is confirmed only upon completion of full program payment. A seat is reserved only when payment has been received.

• Financial Assistance

is available for registration fees and/or travel expenses.  If you plan to attend the TNT but have financial barriers, you may be eligible for help.

Our Public Service Fund is a member-generated funding source. Funding is limited and time-sensitive, and we recommend applying as soon as possible, even if your application has not yet been reviewed/approved. 

• What does it mean to be a "Approved Applicant"?

Once all workshop seats are filled, we still have applications in our queue that will continue through the review process. If approved, the applicant will be place on our waitlist and will be offered a space if there is a cancellation. Moving forward, the "approved applicant" will be placed on a priority list and will be notified when the next TNT registration opportunity opens.

The applicant will be eligible to register for and attend a TNT within 24 months of their approval date without having to apply again or pay application fees.  After 24 months, the applicant will be removed from the "Approved Applicant" list and will be required to submit a new application. 

Attendance at MINT’s Annual Forum (Optional)                                

The MINT Annual Forum will take place immediately after the 3-Day TNT Workshop. We invite all TNT participants to the Welcome Reception Wednesday night. This is an excellent opportunity to meet members of MINT. You can attend the Annual Forum on  Day 2  & Day 3 (Thursday and Friday) at a discounted fee.  

Please note that space is limited to 60 spots, and registration will be first come, first served due to high demand.
